Justin Steele Tosses First Career Complete Game

Angels Fall in Chicago as Steele Dominates

A Ray of Hope for the Cubs

In a season filled with uncertainty and disappointment, Justin Steele has emerged as a beacon of hope for the Chicago Cubs. The young left-hander delivered a masterful performance on Friday at Wrigley Field, pitching a two-hitter for his first career complete game in a 5-1 victory over the Los Angeles Angels.

Steele, who has flashed brilliance at times this season, was in complete control from the outset. He retired the first nine Angels batters he faced, striking out the side in the second inning. The only baserunners he allowed came on a single by Mike Trout in the fourth inning and a walk to Shohei Ohtani in the sixth.

Meanwhile, the Cubs offense provided just enough support for Steele. Patrick Wisdom gave the Cubs a 1-0 lead in the first inning with a solo home run, and Seiya Suzuki added an RBI double in the third. Franmil Reyes provided some insurance with a two-run homer in the fifth.

With the victory, the Cubs improved to 43-54 on the season, still in contention for a wild-card berth. Steele's performance was a reminder that even in a difficult season, there is always reason for hope.
