Details Emerge on Multi-Vehicle Collision
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) of Ontario has released more information about the fatal crash that occurred on Highway 401 in Whitby this morning. According to the SIU, two grandparents and their infant grandchild are among the four individuals who tragically lost their lives in the multi-vehicle collision.
The SIU further reported that the crash involved multiple vehicles, including a vehicle that was reportedly fleeing from the police. The fiery incident shut down a stretch of Highway 401 in both directions for several hours, from exit 406 Lake Ridge RoadCounty Road 23 to exit 410.
Emergency services personnel responded promptly to the scene and transported the victims to the hospital, where three of them were pronounced deceased. The SIU is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and the actions of the police officer involved.
